Data file                     The template of piece with one record

Types of personalisation
Database Preparation
a) Variable texts – variables such as name, surname, contact details, etc., based on a database prepared accordingly (see how to prepare a database).
b) Variable numbering – numeric variables, numbering based on a determined number range 'from' – 'to', e.g. 0001-1000 or using concrete numbers from a database. Personalisation is most often used to number tickets, vouchers, etc.
c) Variable barcodes – personalisation using variable barcodes. The codes can contain different texts or numbers, depending on the type of barcode selected (see the barcode guide). A database or a numeric range 'from' – 'to' is required.
d) Variable photos – personalisation using different photos for name tags, ID cards, etc. A database and photos in the correct format are required (for detailed instructions, see Preparing_Database.pdf)

We don't guarantee the order of items in printing run.

Preparing files for data merger
Files for data merger should contain:
a) File for printing – PDF artwork prepared in accordance with product specifications, with empty space(s) left for variable data.
b) Data merger template – PDF artwork with the same size as the file for printing, serving as an example for data merger. When preparing your artwork, please select the variable with the most characters (e.g. the person with the longest surname, address, etc.) and select style and font size to make sure that every variable fits its defined space.
c) Data for data merger – database, numeric range 'from' – 'to', barcode type and content.
MS Excel is the preferred tool (see Preparing_Database.pdf), but with simple, single-column database content, a text file is also acceptable.
d) Photos – if variable photos are used.
e) Fonts – the font intended for the personalised content needs to be attached.
PLEASE NOTE – your preferred font may not support special characters. Using True Type fonts or basic system fonts such as Arial, Times New Roman, Monotype Corsiva is highly recommended.
