Dry stamps are a practical tool that allows for impressive embossing of characters and patterns on paper with a weight of 80–300 g/m². Thanks to their ease of use and precision, they are an excellent solution for marking important documents, certificates, diplomas, or corporate materials.

Dry stamp - technical parameters - how it works

Embossing

The method of embossing patterns with stamps is a technique that allows for creating durable and aesthetic patterns on the surface of paper. 

It involves the use of a dry stamp (a pair of concave - convex matrices) with a press, which exerts pressure on the paper, creating subtle indentations or protrusions.

How to Prepare a File for Dry Embossing

  • The embossing area is a circle with a diameter of 40 or 50mm (depending on the size of the press). 
  • Draw the circles in hairline red (100% M + 100% Y).
  • Design the elements intended for embossing in a single color - K 100% (black)
  • Place the embossing elements within the aforementioned circles, ensuring they are at least 2 mm away from the edge of the circle
  • In the order notes, specify whether the stamp on the obverse should be raised or recessed
  • To prepare a recessed stamp design, first create its mirror image based on the raised stamp, then make a negative (swap black for white and vice versa). Add a black outline with a width of 0.5 mm to the resulting black graphic – this is necessary for stamps used on paper with a weight of 80-100 g to prevent damage during embossing. After adding the outline, check for any "merging" of small elements. If this occurs, it means the objects are too small and it is necessary to redesign both the raised and recessed stamps with larger details.
