Technical specification of custom-shaped lightboxes

Dimensions and construction
Custom-shaped lightboxes are manufactured using aluminium strips. The currently available strips and their sizes are visible in the calculator.
Sizes
For DFT flanged strip: The maximum size of the lightbox is 1.5 m², with the length of one side not exceeding 2 m. For a lightbox with a 2 m side, the other side may be up to 0.75 m, while for a 1.5 m side, the other side may be up to 1 m.
For FLT 40mm flat strip: the maximum size of the lightbox is 1 m², with the length of one side not exceeding 2 m. For a lightbox with a 2 m side, the other side may be up to 0.5 m.
Lightbox construction
The side of the lightbox is made from precisely bent 0.6mm thick aluminium strip with a properly finished double-folded edge (DFT). Colour availability depends on the selected type of strip – detailed options can be checked in the calculator.
Lightbox face
The face is made from a material that retains its colour during the day while allowing illumination in the dark.
We produce faces from:
- Plexiglass with UV CMYK print.
- Tubond with milled signs, backed with plexiglass with UV print.
- Tubond with milled signs, backed with opal plexiglass covered with translucent film. Film colours in the “Available materials” tab
Lightbox back
- 10 mm thick foamed PVC, fitted with LED modules.
Illumination
- Light source: top-quality waterproof (IP 66-68) LED diodes
- LED modules in natural colour temperature of 7000K
- Power supplies provided separately, intended for indoor installation.
Installation of custom-shaped lightboxes
Custom-shaped lightboxes should be mounted directly onto the façade.
Installation requires disassembly of the lightbox (diffuser):
- Unscrewing the screws connecting the aluminium strip to the rear PVC plate (10 mm).
- Attaching the PVC to the façade.
- Connecting to the power supply. The lightbox is equipped with a 12V power cable approximately 5m long.
- Mounting the lightbox diffuser.
As standard, the lightbox is supplied with a 12V power cable approximately 5m long. The power supply is provided separately and is not integrated with the lightbox.
This solution allows the power supply to be placed inside the building and only a low-voltage cable to be routed to the lightbox. This facilitates later servicing — in the event of a power supply replacement, there is no need to dismantle the lightbox diffuser.
Note!
If the power supply is to be placed inside the lightbox, this must be specified at the order stage. It is possible to supply the lightbox with an internally mounted waterproof power supply, however, connection of the power in this case remains the responsibility of the installer.
Important information regarding installation
- Mounting elements are not included – their selection depends on the type and construction of the wall.
- Installation should be carried out by a qualified person who will select the appropriate mounting elements for the surface.
- For customers from Silesia, we can recommend proven installation teams specialising in lightbox installation.
Interested parties are asked to contact the Customer Service Department.
Notes regarding lightboxes
Illumination of colour graphics/opal plexiglass
LED modules in natural colour (approx. 7000 K).
Aluminium strip dimension tolerance
Aluminium strips sourced from different suppliers may differ slightly in thickness and height.
Limitations of strip bending
- The minimum distance between aluminium strip bending lines is 10 mm.
- The minimum bending radius of the strip is 20 mm.
Strip waviness
Strips are supplied by the manufacturer in coils, which may result in slight waviness on longer, straight sides (applies to rectangular lightboxes). In these cases, we recommend choosing (where possible) strips in white or black. This allows us to use a thicker strip, which is stiffer and less prone to deformation on longer sides.
